The Murray Hill Declaration | Science-Based Medicine

Letting fucking morons run public health is the greatest anti-vaccine movement imaginable

As SBM readers know, our medical establishment rose to power not because of their genuine accomplishments, but rather because they were social media celebrities who “proposed”, “argued for”, “called for”, and boasted that they “would have” done countless amazing, wonderful things when COVID raged. Drs. Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff didn’t protect the vulnerable, but they “proposed” it and claimed they “would have” done it.  Dr. Marty Makary didn’t open schools, but he “argued for” this. Dr. Vinay Prasad didn’t run any RCTs, but he “called for” them.

Fortunately, these doctors face many fewer challenges today than their predecessors in 2020.  Despite not having to deal with a deadly new virus with no vaccine, things are going horribly under their dismal “leadership.” Today, familiar foes, the flu, measles, COVID, and pertussis are swirling, infecting, and killing children. Meanwhile, vaccine rates are plunging, schools are closing in multiple states, and students are absent and quarantined. Elsewhere, hospitals are filling up and are once again forced to limit visitors and issue mask mandates. It turns out that Dr. Prasad was totally right when he said:

The Murray Hill Declaration

Now that Drs. Prasad, Bhattacharya, Kulldorff and Makary are the medical establishment, it’s their opportunity to dazzle us all with their real-world prowess. But more than that, it’s fundamentally their job to do all the incredible things they previously “proposed”, “argued for”, “called for”, and “would have” done.  All of it. I have summarized their duties and obligations in a document titled the Murray Hill Declaration, which borrows heavily from its inspiration, the Great Barrington Declaration.

Protect the vulnerable

The  Great Barrington Declaration said:

Adopting measures to protect the vulnerable should be the central aim of public health responses. By way of example, nursing homes should use staff with acquired immunity and perform frequent testing of other staff and all visitors. Staff rotation should be minimized. Retired people living at home should have groceries and other essentials delivered to their home. When possible, they should meet family members outside rather than inside. A comprehensive and detailed list of measures, including approaches to multi-generational households, can be implemented, and is well within the scope and capability of public health professionals.

The Murray Hill Declaration recognizes that it’s now the job of our medical establishment to implement these “comprehensive and detailed list of measures” and protect anyone who is vulnerable to a dangerous virus. Since they are now public health professionals, this is all well within their scope and capability. Currently, their failure to deliver groceries and other essentials to retired people living at home reveals their callous indifference to the fate of vulnerable people.

Protect children’s right to a high-quality education

The Great Barrington Declaration said:

All children have a right to a high-quality education. Adults have a moral obligation to make this happen.

The Murray Hill Declaration agrees. Our medical establishment are now the adults with the moral obligation to protect children’s right to a high-quality education. The Murray Hill Declaration calls for them to use vaccines, ventilation, testing, masks, and whatever else is needed to make sure schools remain open with healthy children learning from healthy teachers.  Every school closure or epidemic of absenteeism is now happening under their watch and reflective of their indifference to high-quality education.

Monitor disease transmission at the local level and continuously communicate this to the public in a nuanced way

The Great Barrington Declaration said:

It is essential for public health departments to monitor disease transmission at the local level and continuously communicate this to the public. High-risk individuals can make decisions and take precautions accordingly. This should ideally be done using random population surveys. Information on hospitalizations and mortality should also be tracked. Any monitoring system based on positive test results must account for geographical and temporal variation in testing practices.

This information should be conveyed to the population in a nuanced way that does not induce panic but instead provides the basis for an accurate assessment of each person’s risk based on their age and comorbid conditions.

The Murray Hill Declaration calls for our current medical establishment to monitor disease transmission at the local level and convey this information to the population in a nuanced way that does not induce panic but instead provides the basis for an accurate assessment of each person’s risk based on their age and comorbid conditions. Unfortunately, instead of educating the public, they are trying to relive their lost glory days of 2020, railing on social media and right-wing grift conferences about lockdowns and mandates that ended many years ago. Our medical establishment never mention headlines about the flu, pertussis, or measles today. The Murray Hill Declaration calls for this to change.

Create a metabolically healthy population

In his latest one-page “pandemic plan”, Dr. Bhattacharya said:

We should learn from recent example: a metabolically healthy population, physically active and eating nutritious food, will cope far better in the face of a novel pathogen than a population facing a severe chronic-disease crisis…

Ultimately, public health agencies encouraging people to take whatever steps they can to improve their health will have a dramatic effect during the next pandemic. Whether simply by stopping smoking, controlling hypertension or diabetes, or getting up and walking more, anything that makes the population healthier will prepare us better for the next pandemic. The best pandemic preparedness playbook for the United States is making America healthy again.

The Murray Hill Declaration strongly supports these healthy habits. It is now the job of our medical establishment to get people to put down their cigarettes, put on their walking shoes, and make sure Americans are metabolically healthy. Posting a cringey work-out video won’t move the needle an inch.

RCT or STFU

Dr. Prasad, famously said “RCT or STFU” and lambasted his predecessors for not carrying out RCTs of every pandemic mitigation measure, claiming they deliberately “undermined” RCTs. The Murray Hill Declaration remembers that that Dr. Prasad’s predecessors delivered multiple successful vaccine RCTs in 2020. The Murray Hill Declaration strongly supports RCTs. Provided they don’t violate basic medical ethics by testing known vaccines against placebos, it calls for our medical establishment to conduct RCTs and definitively answer every lingering question regarding viruses and vaccines. Thus far, they’ve done zero, but refuse to STFU.

Hold a series of public dialogues

Despite being media superstars and advising presidents and governors, our medical establishment claimed to have been silenced and censored. They also claimed to value debate and discussion. Dr. Prasad, for example, lambasted the previous medical establishment for not holding public dialogues with the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration in 2020. He said:

A series of dialogues — even virtual ones — made available for the broader scientific community, policy makers, and the public would have benefited us all.

It is now our medical establishment’s obligation to have a series of public dialogues with myself and other signers of the Murray Hill Declaration. Anything less would be censorship, though we already know they reject free speech.

The establishment, the people who set the policies, they have to strive to get things right

I hope that you’ll sign the Murray Hill Declaration, an independent proposal which, unlike the Great Barrington Declaration, wasn’t sponsored by a pro-tobacco, child-labor advocate. I also view it as a living document. Feel free to propose, argue for, or call for literally anything you want from our medical establishment and claim that you would have done it if you had their authority.  As Dr. Prasad said when he was out of power:

The establishment, the people who set the policies, they have to strive to get things right. They need to do studies. They need to course correct. They have to admit their errors. They need to be held to the highest standard.

The Murray Hill Declaration agrees with that 100%.
