Matthias Schoenaerts, who is set to play the main villain Krem of the Yellow Hills in the upcoming Supergirl film, has received a six-month prison sentence in absentia and a one-year driving ban for driving without a license, according to Belgian broadcaster VRT. He was also fined €4,000 and will have to retake all his driving tests.
The actor has been convicted of 11 offenses in the past, including twice in Pelt in April 2024 for riding his motorbike without a valid license. He was previously banned from driving in Antwerp in September 2021 for driving under the influence of drugs and was ordered to retake his compulsory tests and exams, but failed to do so.
VRT notes that this conviction is not related to an incident last week when Schoenaerts was arrested in Pelt for refusing to take a breathalyzer test. During that encounter, he was reportedly not in possession of a valid driving license and was uncooperative with police.
