This 1957 Porsche 356A coupe was modified with a louvered decklid and widened rear quarter panels in 2006 and is said to have been driven approximately 40k miles in California over the next 13 years. The car won a number of awards and was displayed at the 2017 Werks Reunion in Monterey before being acquired by the current owner in 2018. A 2.5-liter Polo flat-four was installed in 2022, and it features dual Weber carburetors, Bosch CDI ignition, and front-mount oil coolers. The car rides on 15″ Boyd Coddington wheels with Koni shocks, a 19mm front sway bar, and 26mm rear torsion bar. A 901 five-speed manual transaxle and four-wheel disc brakes have also been added, and the interior houses a roll bar, modified 911 sport seats, power windows, and a CD stereo. Additional equipment includes pop-out Lexan side windows, fog lights, power steering, and a dual-center-exit exhaust. This 356A coupe is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, prior awards, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
This example was fitted with a custom louvered decklid and widened rear quarter panels by Andy Elsener of Huntington Beach, California, in 2006. GT-style bumpers, pop-out Lexan rear side windows, and Marchal fog lamps were also added. The car was repainted in Aquamarine Blue by Jim East Auto of Orange, California, and clear paint protection film was added to the front end. The roof was repainted following the repair of a dent from a prior roll bar, and the seller notes a paint blend line on a quarter panel.
The 15×7” Boyd Coddington wheels are mounted with Yokohama Advan Fleva tires measuring 205/55 and showing date codes from 2022. Power steering and four-wheel disc brakes have been added, and suspension modifications include Koni shocks, a 19mm front sway bar, decambered front spindles, gusseted front trailing arms, 1967 911S rear trailing arms, and a 26mm rear torsion bar.
The modified 911 sport seats are trimmed in beige leather, and matching upholstery extends to the dash. A roll bar is fitted behind the seats, and a Pioneer CD stereo housed in the rear deck behind the driver’s seat is wired to a controller mounted below the radio blanking plate. Power windows have been added.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames replacement VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer is said to have been set to zero when it was installed, and now shows under 46k miles. The selling dealer notes that 40k of which were accrued under prior ownership in California, while approximately 5k have been driven under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The Polo flat-four incorporates a custom 911-style case with dual Weber carburetors, Bosch CDI ignition, and front mount oil coolers.
The transmission tunnel was modified to accommodate the 901 five-speed manual transaxle, which features custom gearing and a ZF differential.
