This 1978 Honda Z50A Mini Trail reportedly remained in one family for many years and was acquired by the current owner in 2024 and subsequently refurbished. Work included repainting the bike in red with multicolor graphics, overhauling the 49cc four-stroke single, and replacing the chrome fenders, handlebars, wiring harness, grips, hand controls, and more. Shifting is through a three-speed transmission with an automatic clutch, and features include 8″ steel wheels, an adjustable-height seat, twist-lock folding handlebars, a kick starter, and a side stand. This Z50A Mini Trail is now offered at no reserve in Kansas for off-road use only with parts and a bill of sale.
The fuel tank was replaced in the refurbishment and refinished in red and the side panel and fork were painted to match with multicolor Honda graphics set over a steel backbone frame refinished in black. Details include a height-adjustable solo seat, replacement chrome fenders, trail lighting, and a side stand.
The two-piece 8″ steel wheels were mounted with Lan Yu Feng tires under current ownership. Braking is handled by front and rear drums. Suspension consists of an inverted fork with rubber gaiters as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm.
The replacement twist-lock folding handlebars are equipped with a replacement twist-grip throttle, black grips, and run switch. No instrumentation is present, therefore total mileage is unknown. Additional replacement items include the wiring harness, hand controls, and cables.
The 49cc four-stroke single features a Keihin carburetor, a kick starter, and an upswept exhaust system with a replacement perforated chrome heat shield. Factory output when new was two horsepower and two lb-ft of torque. The seller states the engine was overhauled beginning in October 2024 and finished in March 2025 and the engine drips oil and smokes.
Power is routed to the rear wheel through a three-speed semi-automatic transmission and a drive chain.
An assortment of removed and spare parts are included in the sale and are viewed in the gallery.
Photos documenting the refurbishment under current ownership are captured in the gallery.
The bike does not have a title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale only.
